& E Homestead

J&E Homestead, LLC is now located at the Parker-Allen home, circa 1839, at 3384 Hwy 381 South  Clio, SC.  J&E Homestead, LLC is run by Joel and Emily Simon, both of whom are Marine Corps veterans.  J&E Homestead, LLC is a growing alpaca farm featuring Huacaya alpacas, Champagne d' Argent meat rabbits, Araucana and Buff Orpington chickens, and Honey Bees.  The farm is protected by two Great Pyrennes, not to mention the two Marines that live there!

FARM PHILOSOPHY

Joel and Emily believe God spoke to them through 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody."

IN THE BEGINNING
J&E Homestead (pre-LLC) started in 2005 in Clover, SC with a small garden and a compost pile.  In 2007, Joel built a beautiful coop for the Araucana and Buff Orpington chickens that soon followed.  The following year a rabbitry was added and rabbit breeding began.  In 2009, the garden was expanded to double its original size and the Champagne d' Argent rabbit was introduced to the homestead.  In 2011 Joel and Emily went on their first vacation without children since before Joel's tour in Iraq in 2003.  They went to Banner Elk, NC and found Apple Hill Farm during their week long vacation.  That is where they fell in love with alpacas.  Honey bees made their appearance at J&E Homestead, (pre-LLC) in 2012.

Recently

In the summer of 2013 J&E Homestead (pre-LLC) moved to it's current location in Clio, SC.  Alpacas were purchased and brought to the new Homestead location.  There are currently 7 female alpacas and one herdsire onsite.

Future

As time passes it is the goal of J&E Homestead,LLC to become a producer of high quality True Black and all Silver Grey alpacas.  We currently sell alpacas, chicks, eggs, rabbit (both live and vacuum sealed meat), and will produce stain glass and wood work soon.  The Homestead Store is a future project on this website.
